Fortune Cookie Wisdom

A couple of my co-workers took me out to a Chinese restaurant for my farewell lunch today (tomorrow is my last day with the company). At the end of the festivities, the waitress gave us all fortune cookies. This is what mine said:

Doing what you love is freedom. Loving what you do is happiness.

Maybe I’ll just lay down that fortune for my exit interview tomorrow.

I once got a fortune that said: When there’s a funny smell in the air, friends look first at you.

How true that is! I have it hanging on the fridge.

Some friends took me out to dinner the night before I left to kayak from Oswego, NY to Annapolis, MD, through the Erie Canal, down the Hudson and Intracoastal Waterway. It said “Leave your boat and stay on the shore.”

That’s awesome. Did you run into any sea monsters or anything that validated the wisdom of the fortune cookie?

Nope. It was a great trip. A little bit of sunburn was the worst of it.
